Un has conferences, declarations, reporters, commissions, etc. Un doesn"t create laws, allows public education, create agreement on what"s right/wrong, monitoring, set standards. Create a culture whereby they declare something is important, then other member countries pay attention to that and laws kick in and new laws are passed in every country. Talked about human right framework of gender violence. Two feminist positions in sex trafficking: abolitionist position prostitution abolish = to stop; abolitionist = get rid of sex trafficking and prostitution, e. g. asian countries look at legal mechanisms. Women used only for sex, prostitution is bad for all women, degrades us, objectifies women, make us for sale, never a free choice, don"t care about consent, is a form of violence, e. g. pornography is bad.
