One simple design can have far-reaching impacts: invention of the plough. Growing food done by hand: labor intensive and time consuming. Improvements in the plough"s design made farming efficient and more wide- spread. Harvest more food than needed to survive. Spend day-to-day existence on other things than growing food. Person to person communication regardless of location. Expansion of features beyond just a phone. Smart self-healing nano-composite materials for buildings and bridges. Designs impacts on society: changing social conditions: building roads to remote areas. Expand hunting areas or shop for food. Shopping requires money, so need to work. Consider and accommodate during the design process. Cant simply implement the garbage systems in the city of toronto.
