Document Summary
Homologous structures is parallel structure in diverse organisms: divergent evolution ; when two new specifies evolve from the same ancestor. Analogous structures have the same functions but not the same origin: generated by convergent evolution ; similar traits evolve independently in species that do not share recent common ancestor. Allele frequency: count all alleles / (2 pop"n #) Exponential growth (logistic growth: resources depleted , pop"n size represents maximum population size that particular environment can support, carrying capacity (k, s shaped curve : Speciation : two new populations must form from one original population and evolve so that it is impossible for individuals from the two new populations to interbreed, splitting of one ancestral species into two descendent species. Allopatric speciation : involve geographic separation of population from parent species, other homeland. Sympatric speciation : same homeland, involve speciation occurring with a parents species staying in one location.
