In hermaphrodites, each individual has potenial to be paternal or maternal when reproduced. Water hyacinth can reproduce sexually (lowering plants along the edge) and asexually (cloning in the middle) at the same ime. Mammals during copulaion are actually more suscepible and vulnerable to predaion. Sexual genotype has 50% less geneic transmission to the next generaion (as its sharing its genes with someone else) Very it asexual individual would give ideal genes to the next generaion as opposed to risking maing with a less it individual and causing the ofspring to be less it.
