Document Summary
Artists, history, writers each have their own ways of narrating. Actions take on meaning once they are embedded into a story. Stories link individual events by connecting them temporally, spatially and causally. Narrative is a chain of events linked by a cause and effect and occurring in time and space. It"s about connectivity to time and space and a series of actions. How multiple actions and their causes are connected to each other. It"s a highly constructed representation of events that is very distinct to real life. Everything that does not have a cause and effect relationship is eliminat- ed. Every detail serves to drive as a sub-plot or locus for something. Film narratives have a definite beginning, middle and end. It is contained in structure, unlike real life. Equilibrium - disequilibrium (conflict that has to be resolved) - equilibrium (resolution/close/comple- tion/back in stable environment/state of change) Moments of difference and variation allow a story to unfold.
