Awkward Humour
• Many media forms today rely upon “awkward humour”
• Discomfort, physical ineptitude
• Characters lack self-awareness
• They’re clueless…
• About themselves, the world, how they’re seen by others…

• Freud: outlet for aggressive tendencies
• Jokes can be hostile, “clear away social barriers”
