Document Summary

Civ100 lecture 27- centroids of areas, volumes pressures/ stresses. By similar s, x/b = [(h-y)/h ] A y = yda= y (xdy) Total area a = bh/2 yb [( b h) y2] ( )dy h. Load on a line total load is equal to the area of the force diagram which is 7kn/m multiplied by. This load acts on centroid of the area. Example 1 o: total load = (9m * 6m) * (2kn/m2) = 108kn. Calculated the volume: load per unit area is actually pressure. So we actually calculated the volume of pressure diagram: the resultant acts on the centroid of the volume. Example 3 l load = [(9m * 2kn/m2) / 2] * 6 = 54 kn: 54 resultant force acting on the centroid. Whatever you do to one set of diagram, you can do to the other in terms of taking moments. Stress / pressure : force/ area: total force is the volume of the block.
