Allowed deportation of anymore who fell into a prohibited class within 2 years of entry. Way to discourage immigration of japanese and indian people. Cut off common route to bc via hawaii. Sale of through tickets from india to canada to longer offered by canadian pacific. Governor-in-council could arbitrarily prohibit classes of people deemed unsuited to the climate or requirements of canada . Almost all immigrants sponsored by charitable organizations excluded.
