Private policing: many more in private industry than public policing, private is a major issue, 2014- over 4. 5 million private security industry, growth industry, on stock market. Rather than rely on public police to make periodic controls, you hire someone who monitorships info with private security have , who comes in and out of building, etc. Buildings with strong security have less risk: mobile patrol, transportation of money/valuable goods, only ppl allowed to carry firearms are transportation security. Increasingly have gated communities who have own neighborhoods carry firearms: special event guarding, vip protection, fraud investigation, consultative (loss prevention work, undercover surveillance, private investigation, home/business security. Issues in private security: privatization of public policing functions. The more tickets you write, the more your profits will be: wages/benefits/ job security. When police are rewarded for being professional, the risk of corruption declines.
