Important ideas: qi (vital energy- essence, li- principle, pattern, coherence, different from character from ritual, dao. Implemented confucian teachings: neo confucian transformations, first 250 years of joseon, sought to recreate the golden age of chinese antiquity, restructure family- patrilineal pattern, buddhist temples lost official support.
