Management tools: controlled burning, reintroduction of native grasses, innovative solutions to cattle grazing. Buy a ranch where they are allowed to rotate their cattle into: science. Many scientists on board too and they meet regularly. Community-based natural resource management: government policy to let local groups of people control their own natural resources, gives people the power to run their own ecosystem management programs. 1996 right to form conservancies to manage wildlife resources. 3 main elements: natural resource management and conserve, rural development programme, empowerment and capacity building. Restoration active or passive: some regions too damaged to rebound naturally or the length of time exceedingly long, some areas need more active manipulation to be restored. What do you restore an ecosystem to: recreating the ecosystem to some reference point.
