It was interesting to read them in a literary sense, since i studied them as historical figures. It was interesting to look at them as writers. This time, i read it less as historical fact and more as a collection of literary tropes and techniques: we can think about how genre functions in the texts. The maple sugar making is different than the description than the relationship to the son, so we see literary tropes mixed in with historical detail.
