Document Summary

How traditional preoccupations are being reassessed by 21st century writers. Ction, but being addressed differently by modern writers. Martel shifted our focus (with the postmodern novel in canada). There will be a discussion board on blackboard that we can use for participation. Essays: mla formatting (12pt font, times new roman, etc). Most effort spent on close reading of the novel. But research is also an aspect of this. There won"t be a lot of publications, so we could use a secondary source on a theory, a literary de nition, a published work on the paper. Use the research to develop a part of the essay in a constructive way. It could inform the essay in a small or large way. Don"t want to see a cut-and-paste job from secondary sources. Can do a comparative essay for the second essay (but would have to be a longer essay). The second essay should be 8-10 pages (not 10-12).
