Post impressionistic, equal points/marks on the surface, in which texture of surface is almost mosaic-like. Partnership between the industry and the arts, strong difference in subject matter. Came back to canada to serve in wwi to serve as a war artist. Concerns were largely formal, oure painting interested in color and line. Experimentation with wet water color and oil on canvas. Influence of free, looser style, and water color studies.
