Biotechnology aimed at increasing quality & productivity of agriculture but also modifying them in ways that are designed to suit industrial processes simplifying, standardizing, accelerating them. Agriculture presents certain obstacles to factory-style wage labour models. Use of precarious labour and socially constructed differences. Labour that is done in the household by household members for themselves or other household members. Labour that goes into the everyday maintenance of the household that is not compensated by wages. Labour that is economically valued in the marketplace. Women coming home from a full day in the labour market & then coming home and doing another full day of labour. Households don"t necessarily operate in a standardized, harmonious way. Can be bargaining & power dynamics within the household over who is going to do what labour and who is going to benefit from that labour.
