After the fall of napoleon, the major powers tried to return to the old system: this did(cid:374)"t (cid:449)ork, people enjoyed the changes of the french revolution. Industrialization created a new type of society and a new way of life. As the major powers got wealthier they wished to expand. As a result of this desire for power, ww1 happened. Apart fro(cid:373) this he did(cid:374)"t ha(cid:448)e (cid:373)u(cid:272)h glo(cid:271)al interest: people were more free so long as they did not get in the way of the state, freedom of speech, film, expression etc. Authoritarian systems: many states wanted democracy.
