During the period immigration to ca was small, numbers were miniscule-small in comparison to the numbers going to the colonies south of us (the us) The flow of immigrants into canada at this time was erratic. Immigrants settled in a scattered pattern-tiny settlements-few connection amongst one another-over large part of the globe. New comers were significant french and english becoming our national languages have to do with both empires being the founding peoples . French/english (cultures) have become very important in the long run. The interactions with indigenous people via european trade/settling innovation. Early canada =a historian convenience-to describe the area that would eventually become canada. Sources-available for studying immigration history in this period are limited. Sources include: shipping records-noted cargo/people-documents are not expansive-just names-what port was left/where it was arrived. Government documents-produced by french/british authorities-trying to oversee and note what was going on top down-view of the world.
