Document Summary

A change in a synapse is whats encoded in a memory trace. A memory trace is a attern of activity in a specific region of the brain modified by plasticity. The engram is mediated by the strong synapse. The (cid:271)etter k(cid:374)o(cid:449)(cid:374) 4 f"s are startle, freezing, fear and sex. Its diffi(cid:272)ult to di(cid:448)ide the regio(cid:374)s i(cid:374) the a(cid:373)(cid:455)gdala. The (cid:272)e(cid:374)tral (cid:374)u(cid:272)leus of the amygdala is the output region, its connected to the brains tem and the hypothalamus. The lateral region is more towards the outside. Central is more close to the center of the brain. This is the engram from input to output. If we stick electrodes in this region, it licits the natural function. If we stimulate the central nucleus with an electrode, it elicits fear. Before lear(cid:374)i(cid:374)g, (cid:374)o(cid:374)e of the sti(cid:373)uli that the a(cid:374)i(cid:373)al (cid:449)as se(cid:374)si(cid:374)g (cid:449)ould(cid:374)"t o(cid:374) its o(cid:449)(cid:374) trigger a(cid:374)(cid:455)thi(cid:374)g, neither would it trigger anything inside the experiment box.
