Teleology: everything in the universe has a goal. (no longer accept) A worldview is characterized by its metaphysical compounds. Heterogeneity: two different regions in the universe, those regions obeys different laws. (no longer accept) Homogeneity: one sets of laws working for the whole universe. Mechanicism: material objects are composed of bits of interactive matter. Dualism: there are two substances, matter and mind. Action by contact: no action at distance, every influence assumes some immediate contact. Dualistic determinism: in material world all events are strictly deterministic. Dynamism: matter is essentially extended substances that interacts through forces not only by actual contact. Vacuism: empty space is possible and space is a separate substance. Wave-particle duality: all matter has both wave and corpuscular properties. Probabilistic determinism: all events has certain causes but the same initial conditions may produce different effects. Agnosticism: we cannot know whether god exists or does not exist. Metaphysics: a set of views about the world taken as a whole.
