HPS326H1 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins, Freedom Of Religion
Document Summary
This course deals a lot with what is called the complexity pieces. This course is not only the history of science and religion, but also the history of science and religion as a field. There will be a lot about the academic study known as history such as biases, myths, unsupported views and how they"ve played out in almost irresponsible way against the religious views of things. Says newton/galileo were religious but newton did indeed claim to be religious and so did everybody until almost the 19th century when there was less social and judicial pressure than previous centuries for declaring religious support. Dawkins main view is that religion is dangerous because it makes us believe things about the world based on faith not evidence. Here he deals with the argument from admired religious scientists. Somehow this is supposed to be an argument for some religious people in support of religion.
