Graphic novels: vs. comic books are similar, but comic books are serial and cut into pieces rather than graphic novels having a complete story line, existed for a very long time, became big around the 1930s. Duality: 1) the quality or condition of being dual, 2) an instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or two aspects of something; a dualism. Batman vs. joker: how is batman different from the villains/anti hero"s he faces? (similar in psychopathy, we sympathize with batman because we learn and identify with him. Villains vs. superheros: batman and the villains represent two parts to the same brain, villains help define who the hero is, acts as a mirror (creates textured, layered, characters". Philosophy: portrays social forces/phenomenon (i. e. batman and occupy movement at the same time, engage in these issues much faster now; more of a clear connection now.
