Scholarly professions passed down from father to son. Access to learning was restricted among specialty scholarly circles. Wisdom was considered ancient, with literature dating back to the 5 sages. Sages are typically people-like creatures clothed in fish skin. Sin-lequi-unninin is associated with creating the epic of gilgamesh (this is from last lecture) Believed scholars are direct descendants of the sages.
