Sections 7-14: legal rights: life, liberty, security of the person, freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, no arbitrary detention or imprisonment, rights on arrest/detention. Informed promptly for the reasons: right to be informed of retaining counsel without delay, validity of detention by habeas corpus and a person must be released if the detention is not lawful. Informed of specific offence: cannot use s. 33 to violate these rights, presumed innocent until proven guilty, no cruel and unusual punishment, language rights.
