Why are states governed the way they are? (conceptually and historically) Populist authoritarianism, in latin america and southeast and east asia. The study of politics is the study of: power. The framework that regulates market economy is power i. e. government setting minimum wage, workplace rules, business laws, etc. Individuals: decide to vote or not vote, sign petitions, lobbying, or doing nothing. They exercise power when they make decisions everyday to voice complaints or stay silent, show support for certain groups (i. e. black lives matter), etc. (e. g. gandhi making hunger strikes a thing) Organizations: any constellation of people that get together for a specific person, i. e. ngo"s, religious groups, businesses, foundations, universities (although uoft is kind of governmental), etc. Types of political action: virtual actions like vlogs, tweeting, writing blogs, gaining a following online, etc. China (formalistic, and even symbolic: congress of the peoples republic, xi jinping, can exercise a lot of influence and put his own stamp on politics.
