Initially its only permeable to water making it hypeosmotic. As it moves up the loop, its only permeable to solutes making it hypoosmotic. At the collecting ducts the final product depends on the concentraton of adh in the system. Adh makes the distal tubule collecting duct more permeable by inserting pores allowing water to reabsorbed. Withut adh, the collecting duct/distal tubule is impermeable to water, and more water will be secreted as urine. It acts on the kidney to increase water reabsorption. Adh also increases peripheral resistance by contrricting blood vessels. When its present, water is reabsorbed into the interstitial fluid. As we take water out, our urine becomes more concentrated. When its abscent, as the fintrate travels down theres a s(cid:455)ste(cid:373) that"s i(cid:373)per(cid:373)ea(cid:271)le to (cid:449)ater a(cid:374)d it (cid:449)ill dilute uri(cid:374)e. Then camp is released which is a secondary messenger which signals to intracellular storage vecisles which have aquaporin 2 water pores in them.
