Document Summary

Limits force of interaction/fs because there is a reduction in venous return. Baroreceptors fire ap to the medulla to signal that bp is fine. Orthostatic hypotension (hypotension due to standing up too fast): > when bp drops, baroreceptors stop signalling to the medulla. Activates sns, inhibits pns (heart rate slowing effects) Arteries and veins are primary sns effectors; even though gravity is pulling blood down, sns constriction helps drive blood back to the heart. Co and peripheral resistance goes up, bp goes back to normal. Increased sns from nmj signalling and metabolically inactive tissues responds to the sns (constricts) and the metabolically active stays open due to metabolites. Big increase in skeletal muscle flow and blood flow back to the heart. Opening up the vessels reduces the blood flow to other systems. Standard (continuous) capillary: found in muscle/brain, made up of endothelial cell (1 layer thick)
