Sensation is sensing the external stimuli, sensory systems/receptors responding by firing signals from external world (soundwaves, light waves, chemicals) and responding to stimuli. Translating stimuli into a signal that would be understood by your brain. Perception is what goes on in your brain, interpretation of these signals.
