Document Summary
Classical (pavlovian) conditioning: also known as respondent, refers to situations when we have a signal that tells us when another event will occur. E. g. , a bell that signals that food will be presented. Operant (instrumental) conditioning: refers to situations when the consequences of our behavior control future responding. E. g. , if a pigeon pecks a key, then he will get food. This makes him peck the key more frequently to get food. Latent learning: this concept is based on a research that tolman did on pavlovian conditioning, he found that rats would make fewer errors in a maze when they received food than when they did not receive food. If a neutral stimulus is repeatedly paired with an unconditional stimulus, it becomes a conditional stimulus. Neutral stimulus: does not naturally elicit a response. Reflex: involuntary responses that are triggered or elicited by an environmental event (i. e. , a stimulus)
