Document Summary
Reality = story told by brain with lots of guessing by the brain. We miss a lot of stuff; due to sensitivity of sensory organs, attention capacity; brain fills gaps; we unconsciously guess: perception. We interact with out fiction, not with reality. Brain tries to recall past pattern to decipher incoming signal. What we see has to do with what we"ve seen. Carpentered world: reality made by tools in brain. What cannot be decoded is guessed, ignored, or interpreted however we (unconsciously) want. Implications: we live in a constructed representation of the world based on preexisting patterns stored in the brain, and it"s filled with insignificant errors made systematically. We have a limited capacity to process information. Heuristics: general rules to reason / decision make. Bias: perception -> behavior to create reality; alter the information we pay attention to. Word, zanna, cooper: minority being interviewed by people with stereotypic expectations. Empowerment: i can control how i perceive reality.
