Independent random sampling = each indi has to have equal chance: probabilities must stay constant. Random sampling: with replacement= to keep probabilities from changing from one selection to the next, if is necessary to return each indi to the pop before you make the next selection. Denominator will be constant with replacement: without replacement= no requirement of constant probabilities. Percentile vs percentile rank: 75th percentile = percentile rank at 75% or below. (+) z-score (body=left, tail=right), (-) z-score (body=right, tail=left) Binomial or dichotomous variable= only two possible outcomes or categories. N= # of coin flips, x= # of times coin lands on head. If np and nq are both equal or greater than 10, mean= np, sd= npq square, z= x-pn / npq square.
