Document Summary

Anxiety tends to be future-oriented (worried about things that did not happen and puts themselves in a state where they are prepared to attempt to cope with upcoming negative events) Fear is associated with a subjective sense of terror and motivation to flee. Anxiety and fear are mediated by different (but related) neural pathways but they can co-occur. For ex. researchers say that the trait neuroticism is related to sensitivity in both bis and fffs. But it"s important to know that anxiety and fear are normal and in many ways are adaptive. In normal cases, anxiety is unpleasant but bearable and can be adaptive (ex. Yerkes-dodson law which states that too little anxiety during a task will cause you to not focus completely and too much anxiety will cause you to choke) (another ex. Motivates you to be vigilant and pay more attention). Panic the intense reaction to a fear-inducing stimulus.
