Document Summary

Association between one stimulation to another causes neuronal changes - different from classical conditioning. Reflexing behaviour in which neurons are stimulated to accept information ( non-associative learning) Classical conditioning - associations made in the environment, requires changes in synaptic condition. Operant conditioning - an animal learns to repeat a behaviour which is rewarding or to avoid a behaviour associated with punishment. Involves the nature providing a cue, actions of the animal elicits a reward or punishment system. Discriminate conditioning - animal is taught to discriminate between different signals with great accuracy. Basis of conditioned reflex (association of predictive cues) Development of new connection in the nervous system. Synaptic plasticity - neurons will react differently after conditioning; basis of memory. Memory is the ability to store what is learned or experiences and can be recalled in need. Declarative memory - remembering the facts, a picture of our experience (medial temporal lobe, diencephalon)
