PSY320H1 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Heritability, Psychometrics
Document Summary
Identical twins raised apart show that they have similar attitudes despite growing up in different environments. While genes do not determine attitudes, genetic influence can have an impact on. In 1934, prejudice towards chinese people was common. Took road trip with a chinese couple. Recorded how they were treated (pos or neg) After returning, wrote to the owners and asked how they would treat a chinese couple. 91% of respondents said that they would not serve a chinese couple. The couple was only refused service one. Students take a test and grade it themselves (the students did not know that corey had already pre-graded the tests) By comparing the tests he had graded with the tests the students graded, he could tell students had cheated. There was no correlation between attitude and behavior. The students that cheated and students that didn"t cheat didn"t correlate with what their attitudes were.
