Document Summary
What are emoions and how do we study them?- Emoions are not always easy to read: theories of emoion, evoluionary theories. Darwin noiced animals and humans have many of the same facial expressions: if they have the same facial expression emoions must be innate and suggest natural selecion, ex. When animals look angry by showing their teeth, hiss etc. Appropriate for survival provide an adapive advantage through natural selecion have been passed on: facial expressions are where evoluionary theories branched from. Evoluionary theories are interested in reproducing and geing genes into the next generaion. Emoional interacion is important for the survival of the species: ex. Mother noicing her babies distress through her cry. Emoions help us navigate through our social world. Humans emoions are the language of humans. Emoions have evolved to help us solve adapive/environmental problems: ex. Disgust helps us make sure we don"t get something bad into our body.
