PSY397H1 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Monarch Butterfly, Arctic Hare
Document Summary
Makes use of a number of different clocks. Seasonality is a seasonal change that involves adaptation to the environment as it changes. It also produces behavioral changes that produce movement away from the changing seasons. i. e. circadian, circannual clock. The mechanism for generating annual rhythms is not known but there have been theories. For instance monarch butterfly produces anticipation of the need to migrate. Whereas arctic hare, adapt to seasonal changes by increasing body fat and changing fur colours for better camouflage.
