Aims of religion and aims of our study are very different. Our job is to investigate the religion and see how ideas evolved or originated. Something like hair has a lot of religious relativity. Religion is a much more abundant phenomenon, not limited to churches. It effects billions of people and their traditions. If we don"t understand religions then it is difficult for us to understand what is happening in the world and difficult to interpret the world. Saint augustine popularized the term religion from the latin word religio. Trying to reconnect with something , to bind again. Alludes to a perspective we cannot see.
