Culture has levels and 2/3s of a company"s culture is hidden. The 1/3 that is visible are visible artifacts. The policies and procedures cut the visible from the hidden culture. No one smiles or starts the conversations in the workplaces. More structural in terms of hierarchies/what people believe in. Explain the need for change in the environment and get input from employees on why there needs to be change to the current existing culture. Start visible change and show what kind of behaviour you wish to be modelled in the environment and how it was di erent from before. For example, ibm hired a ceo externally and they dressed completely di erently. Reinforce the new behaviour or else employees will fall back onto old habits that you tried to change. For example, ibm employees were given rewards for using the new behaviour. Make change: provide the bins that they hope for everyone to use.
