What is sociology: systematic study of human action in context. What human beings do, what they feel, what they think as it appears in particular historical, cultural, economic, and social contexts. Education ex: you can choose how much time is spent getting ready, reading, studying, getting resources, spending energy: structure: what falls outside of the media control, things that impact you but fall out of your control. You"re thirsty, and resort to going to a vending machine. Agency is having the choice in how much you spend money buying a drink from a vending machine. Structure is the fact you only have a fixed amount of options, which is out of your control. Education ex: you cannot control getting an illness in the middle of semester: critique of neo-liberal subject. Our lives are 100% dependent on the decisions we make.
