Based on life experiences different age groups consider different things common sense: for different situations there are common expectations. Living in a certain society, many things become very automatic. Yet, an outsider coming into that society may have very different common expectations. Teacher: common sense is focused on the immediate and what is going on right now. These decisions are made quickly, with what is readily available. These decisions are done without considering all of the possibilities. Social construction of reality: reality is shaped by the society we live in. (ex: in a school setting there are known students expectations, as there are expectations from the professor. (ex: shifts of opinions on marijuana use, and the legalization of marijuana, something that did not seem possible many years ago. ) Distantiation: gaining insights through increased social distance in destination.
