Fight by workers to demand better working conditions (i. e. safety, restrictions on work hours) Fight to get children out of factory. Fare wages (i. e. working for 50 cents an hour should that be allowed?) First real fight was the right to vote (late 1800s) A number of people rallied together and tried to create more awareness (this is why it is a social movement) Social movement is the study of conflict in society. One grouo may promote while others may detest. Obtaining rights (i. e. legal protection) for same sex couple. Trying to get the same rights as heterosexual couples. Any kind of interactionms taking place when there is a large group of people together. Realize something about society could be improved. Fundamentally social movements are about change (something about the status quo has to be different) May over time become the dominant viewpoint.
