Document Summary

Policies + practices by which capital may intensify the rate of exploitation. Casualization: the rise in part time /contract/seasonal temp jobs and a decrease in full time perm-anent jobs. Downsizing: where the amount of work remains the same but 30% (ie ) is down sized. The people who stay from the downsizing are grateful they weren"t laid off thus they are thankful for their job even though the amount of work is raised for them. De-industrialization in the global north: when manufacturing is transferred to different parts of the world where the cost is much lower (ie america factories shut down and jobs sent to countries like bangladesh) When you are no longer working you are no longer integrated in the society. As a result of the de-industrialization: the whole system was eroded (militant/unions etc. ) Communities disintegrated/ workers were disempowered; ghost towns half population is gone because no more jobs.
