Feminism: start seeing people as people; embodied stories rather than stereotypical images that we project onto them. Janet mock: transgender 3rd wave feminist; voice of contemporary movement. Pop culture is a place where visibility can happen; shape pop culture into critical lens. Representations into pop culture -> part of changing the culture. Free to experience/express femininity and masculinity -> empowerment. Use media to construct a society for us to express ourselves without fear or shame. Choice of expression = something from within, rather than reproducing image from the male gaze i. e. choose to wear heels because i want to not because it"s what media images has presented us. Society = direct reflection of pop culture and media.
