A health researcher is interested in comparing three methods of weight loss diet: low calories diet, low fat diet, and low carb diet. He selects 30 moderately overweight subjects and randomly assigns. The table below shows each subject"s weight reduction (in pounds), in di erent weight loss program, after 1-month period. The researcher investigated whether the extent of weight reduction di er by type of weight loss program. Identify the response and the explanatory variables in the context of this study: give the levels of the categorical explanatory variable. 3 levels (low calories (i = 1), low fat (i = 2), low carb (i = 3): de ne dummy variables for the categorical explanatory variable (diet) using 0-1 coding. Make the category low calories diet as the reference category (base level). x. 0 otherwise: make a table with three rows, and a column for each dummy variable that you de ned in question.
