In 1914: world war one changes the dialogue. Towards the end of the war, russia collapsed: in 1917, collapse of the russian government leads to lenin taking over and russia becomes marxist. The frankfurt school will see a positive development leading to progressive and democratic development but then in collapses during both world wars. They are the result of the problems within the system that allowed the system to collapse: this is what the text addresses.
