The plan of the city of rome was used as an urban planner, many cities were inspired by it. When romans changed their religion towards christianity, there was a shift in their architecture style too. The hagia sophia was rst created as a christian church during its constantinople period, but then it was transformed to a mosque when it was invaded by the ottomans and the city was transformed to istanbul. They made this transformation by adding menorahs and changing the interior decoration of the ceilings and walls.
