Guest speaker: ellie ade kur - silence is violence campaign. Margaret mitchell talked about problem of domestic abuse in parliament and when she stood up she was laughed at and heckled. Racism in the justice system: women of color who are abused by someone of their same ethnic group are in a complex dynamic. They may be harassed in attempts to get help while also feeling protective of their abuser as they know that they may also be unjustly treated by the justice system. Carding: being "stopped randomly by police and asked to submit personal information despite not being accused of a specific crime (balkisson)" Carding - reference to contact cards police been using for about 10 years to collect info about those who are stopped and questioned. Trans pulse project - community based research project that responds to problems identified within ontario trans communities regarding access to health and services.
