Allow the penis to fill with blood. Erectile tissue- becomes engorged with blood to produce erection o. Attaches to the relatively narrow neck of the penis and continues over the gland: urethra. Urethra: what is the function of the corpora cavernosa and corpus spongiosum? o. Sponge like structures of erectile tissue- allow for enlargement when filled with blood: they fill with blood during arousal. Testes are divided into wedge shaped compartments called lobules. Each lobule contains 4 coiled seminiferous tubules- sperm factories. The spermatogenic cells are located near the tubule lumen.
