Italian unification era also known as risorgimento" (resurgence) Much feared (and persecuted) anyone who was joining this group could be charged with death, as this club challenged the status quo. 1832 founded young italy" club dedication to a united and republic italy. Wanted mass revolution (violence ok; god"s plan) thought that this was the only way that change would occur. Head of roman republic (1848) this republic however was very short lived, as it was over by 1849. Masses still not convinced lots of people didn"t find the nationalist call appealing, they didn"t see anything in it for them. Prime minister of the kingdom of sardinia-piedmont in 1852 (italy"s prussia?) Gained prestige after the crimean war joined with the british and the french to defeat russia (gained a spot at the peace conference)
