Document Summary

The easier something is for us, the more highly organized it is in the brain. Vision is a primary means of gathering information about the world. Hue: color of light determined by wavelength of light. Pupil: opening in center of eye (dilation in low light areas, constriction in high light areas) Iris: muscle surrounding people that controls size of pupil. Fovea: point of central focus, where visual information is put for what is being observed. Optic nerves create a blind spot because there are no photoreceptors near them. Accommodation: changing of lens to focus at different distances. Retina: where process of visual transduction takes place (conversion of light to neural impulses), occurring in the photoreceptors of the retina. Rods: found in peripheral regions of retina. More pixelated resolution in rods because there"s an 8:1 ratio rather than 1:1. Cones: found near center of retina (fovea). 1:1 conversion in cones means more acute vision.
