Chapter 6 in pp: speaks about living well at every stage of life, what it means to live well , focus on the meaning of the term flourishing , cover the topic of resilience . 3 models of health : pathogenic model (dominant model) Pathos meaning suffering due to disability or disease: health is absence of pathos, salutogenic model. Salus meaning positive states and positive functioning: health is presence of salus. Complete state model : derived from who (1948) definition of health, definition: a complete state, consisting of the presence of positive capacities and functioning and the absence of disease or infirmity . Criteria for diagnosis of flourishing : above average score on at least one measure of hedonic wellbeing, ex. happiness or positive emotional wellbeing, plus, above average score on at least 6 out of 11 measures of positive functioning. 2 classes of positive functioning (total = 11 scales/indices: positive psychological functioning (6 indices, positive social functioning (5 indices)
